Vineyard Practices
We use 100% drip irrigation and with soil monitoring we only use the amount of water necessary. Planting cover crops between vineyard rows improves soil structure naturally, reduces soil erosion, controls vine vigor, discourages weeds and promotes sustainable health of the vineyard.
Soil samples are taken annually to determine microorganisms present, nutrients needed and application rates. Combined pest management approach allowing beneficial insects to control pests whenever sustainable along with natural based microbial insecticide preparations to promote soil liveliness.

Vines are pruned by hand to minimal levels of fruitful buds in early March, shoot thinning prior to pollination and green cluster thinning in early July resulting in more nourishment per cluster and producing high quality wine grapes with higher concentration and more complex flavors.
We use Frost Guards to help protect the vines from early spring frost and during pollination stirring stagnant air at ground level to promote increased pollination. Being located on the South-East side of Brownfield surrounded by residential housing also aids in protection from harsh winds and frosts.
